Hello everyone,
this is about an exterior facade, but also about tiles. Since I couldn’t find a suitable forum for this, I am posting my question here.
Unfortunately, I am not an expert when it comes to all construction-related matters and hope to find some advice here.
I am planning to have part of an exterior facade tiled.
Unfortunately, there are concerns regarding the adhesive bond, as the top coat consists of synthetic resin plaster (plaster grain size 1.5 mm).
My current information, after a discussion with a tiler, is that no adhesive will properly hold on this plaster.
Do you have any ideas? Are there any experiences of any kind on this?
Alternatives suggested to me so far were:
1) The plaster and insulation where the tiles will be applied must be removed. Then pre-treat with a two-component bonding bridge and then work with fast-setting tile adhesive.
2) Screw [Wediplatten] to the wall and glue the tiles onto them.
Overall, the contiguous tiled area is about 30 sqm and extends either lengthwise (approx. 1.8 x 17 m) or heightwise (6.3 x 4.4 m).
I am looking for a solution that largely excludes possible sources of error. Ideally, I would prefer the tiles to be glued directly to the facade or at least to give the impression of being glued directly to the facade.
I assume that alternative 1) (see above) will not be possible.
Here is the description of the facade I received from the architect:
[WDVS für Fassade bestehend aus e Wärmedämmplatte aus Mineralwolle, Lambda 0,034 E/mK, Klebemörtel und bewehrtem organischen Unterputz, Nennschichtdicke 5 mm, einer Zwischenbeschichtung (Grundierung) sowie Oberputz aus Kunstharz-Putz, Putzkörnung 1,5 mm, durchgefärbt mit Kratzputzstrucktur. Farbe nach Wahl AG bzw. Arch, mind. 4 unterschiedliche Farben, Helligkeitsbezugswert bis ähnlich RAL 7024. Brandverhalten: Klasse A2 nach EN 13502-1.Docke Dämmplatte WDVS: 20,0 cm Material: STO THERM MINERAL]
Of course, time is pressing now and I would be very grateful if you could help me.
Please excuse me if I don't express myself correctly from a technical point of view or if my request somehow sounds unprofessional.
Many thanks and best regards,
Karsten
