Tile joints are coming loose, 5 years warranty? Or just bad luck.

My wife showed me something yesterday while cleaning the bathroom: the grout around the floor drain is coming loose.

The building inspection was almost 5 years ago in October.

Is this a defect covered by the warranty or guarantee? Or is it our own fault?

I have now scraped out about 15 cm, cleaned it as best as I could, and re-grouted it.

Still, I have a queasy feeling now.

In principle, would you report any defects you visually find before the 5 years expire? I had already planned for a while to take some photos of a few spots in the next few days.

You can try, but it may be that expansion joints are excluded. After a while in a wet room, almost normal. Do you have a buddy? Normally have it completely scraped out and done. Duration 1h

Silicone joints are maintenance joints.... You can try it, but I assume that time is better invested in scraping out...

That is not silicone, it is joint compound, so actually hard. Do you have silicone in the joint around the channel? Is the error there?

Oh yes, that’s exactly where the mistake is. Only silicone belongs there. It was done wrong. No wonder it breaks out. I hope it was sealed well, otherwise you’d already have a nice water damage in the floor below.
