The flush tank keeps running. How can this be fixed?

Hi Forum,

the water in our toilet cistern keeps running constantly. Sometimes it doesn’t stop at all and we then have to hit the tiles.
The cistern is built into the wall and everything in front of it is tiled.
Can something be done from the outside if we call a craftsman, or does the whole wall have to be opened to get to the cistern?
That would be disastrous because we don’t have any spare tiles left.

That can't really be said that easily. It depends on how the cistern was installed. Sometimes you can get to it, depending on the construction, if you remove the plastic part where you press to flush. Whether that was enough to check if a seal is broken or if something in the mechanism has come loose? Probably only a craftsman can provide information on that if you or you all can't do it yourselves. Regards Hans

Thank you Hans, even if it's not what I wanted to hear.
We had already removed the cover once, but you can't see anything further.
We'll have to get a craftsman then, which we already thought.
Maybe we'll find the same tiles somewhere, because surely a few tiles will be broken if the whole wall has to be opened.
If we don't find the same tiles, one wall will probably have to be tiled differently.
Maybe it will also be a nice ERneuerung because of it.
Always look on the bright side :)

Hey seni, how did you do that?
We had already taken the lid off once, but you can’t see anything else.
I think there are tiles in front :)

Usually, there is a tile panel which can be removed, and that way you can easily get to the cistern. From the sound of it, it’s the float which is either leaking or dirty.

Hello Henry,

the plastic sheet is somehow just pressed on and could be removed.
I know the flap from the bathtub, where the drain and so on can be seen. But there is no such flap on the cistern. I also don't know why we didn't pay attention to that back then. But we had a lot going on at the time.
I called a craftsman yesterday who is coming at the end of the week. Then I will know more.

And then it can get expensive if you have to remove the tiles, well I'm curious to see what the craftsman will say about it. You'll keep us updated, right?
