presumably that they are allowed to take photos. I would have to check first. Before moving in, that wouldn’t have been a problem either. But now it’s just not right for me, and I’m looking for arguments or guidelines that I can bring up during the visit.

I don’t want to deny everything from the start like a bull in a china shop. He can calmly take photos from the outside, and if he finds faults, feel free to document them. Detailed shots of tiles and roof gables are also no problem. But what I do have an issue with is if someone archives my bed, my bed linens, my furniture, my pictures, which then get into the hands of people like me.

We had a somewhat different case. Our current landlord wanted to have photos taken through the real estate agent in order to re-rent the apartment.

I didn’t feel like it either and did some research. The Frankenthal Regional Court ([Az.: 2 S 218/09]) has ruled that this is not permissible because the private rights are not preserved, as the tenant has no influence over who sees the photos of the apartment or not.

Maybe you can also use the argumentation for your case.

Hello there. I am a banker myself. Not on the credit side, but colleagues of mine are just a few offices away. It is absolutely common for the bank to want photos of the property. This is to document the construction progress. Usually, this is done during the construction phase. At the end, photos of the "finished" house. 1-3 photos at the beginning of the construction, then during the construction phase, and at the end after completion are enough. This is just to record in the credit file that a house was really built... consistent with the submitted documents. No one cares about your photos, floor coverings, wall colors, etc. My colleagues also have the customers take these photos themselves and then send or email them. For the credit people, it's just about "checking off" an open point on the "to do" list. None of our people drive out to the customer, no one would have time for that (Note: We are now talking about private buildings in the "normal" price range. So no construction costs over 1.5 million or commercial projects).

However, the colleague also told me: "...have a few nice hours and drive to the customer....." Just ask if it’s enough for you to take the photos and email them.

Thank you... I think I will probably come up with this or something similar if the photographer is not reasonable. Let's hope he understands my situation. Although I rather feel sorry for him.... he is coming to us from December 27th.... at 10 in the morning after a 300 km trip. So much effort, just for a few photos... which he could have also received from me by email. But [BW-Bank] seems to be a somewhat different bank. Well, at least he will see some of the beautiful Südpfalz.

No, he explicitly wanted to come himself. I heard about the bank for the first time 2 weeks ago... we have been living in the house for 7 months. But it reflects the response times we had beforehand... 8 weeks for a signature on an informal financing confirmation. It only worked after I threatened to pick it up myself... Otherwise, we would have had a very costly construction delay.
