Hello everyone,

we have purchased an apartment with an underground parking space and are planning a standard 230V socket at the parking space as well as a 400V high-voltage line in preparation for a wallbox (for charging an electric car sometime in the future). The parking space is 3m wide.

We need some help regarding the best positioning of the socket and the wallbox. At the moment, we plan to position the 230V socket at the front right of the parking space (green dot) and the wallbox at the back left of the parking space (blue dot).

Does this make sense from your point of view, or should the wallbox better be placed on the short wall (where the green dot is)?

Thank you very much for your help!

Good question. Unfortunately, we don't know the size of the parking space, which would make it easier to say. But I would prefer restrictions in length rather than in width. Therefore, wallbox + socket at the green dot. But it also depends on where the plug is on the car... Please remember that the electricity runs through your own meter, since this is a WEG.

I personally wouldn't care much about that because these are not ranges you have to achieve with the socket. It's more about vacuuming the car now and then, right? A 10m extension cable costs 5€ and regarding the wallbox, the cable for the electric car is also always quite long. The position is hard to determine because the socket on the car is not always in the same place. I would simply go for the cheapest option.

Thank you for your answers.

The parking space is 3m wide and about 6m long. On the current Tesla models, the charging plug is at the rear left of the car, so I planned the wallbox at the blue point.

The vacuum cleaner would be plugged into the outlet, and for that, we found the position at the green point quite good. In terms of costs, we can choose the position freely. Both connections will, of course, run to our apartment.

Or park backwards?

Yes, in principle it would be possible to park backwards, but my wife has already pointed out that she only wants to park forwards. It's just nice and easy to drive in straight and was also the reason why we took the parking space there.
