So far, I have categorized sliding doors under "expensive and tricky," but it is definitely worth considering. What kind of additional cost would be expected for something like that? Moving the south door to the right side of the plan shouldn't be a problem and certainly sounds reasonable. No matter exactly where the table ends up, this creates the possibility to tend to push the table down to the left side of the plan and place the terrace door at the top right by the kitchen, either standard or as a sliding door. I need to measure our table tonight.

Well, you still have to be able to sit at the table and push the chair back. Depending on the size of the table, part of the terrace door would certainly remain free. In summer, with the sliding doors open, it would then be a bit like dining outdoors :)

Edit: to the south, there wouldn’t be a terrace anymore, right? If necessary, install sliding doors there as well.

Yes exactly, in the south there would only be stairs leading down to the lawn. The further to the right in the plan, the lower the stairs become (which is also a good argument for shifting). I don't see a need for two terraces. You are allowed to walk on the lawn (we are planning a meadow-like lawn anyway) and you can even put a table or chair on it ;) Maybe a bit about the basic layout of the property. West of the terrace there should be a vegetable garden, in the south(west) then the play area. It can also be partly shaded there.

There are these lift-and-slide doors, which are said to be quite expensive as well. Unfortunately, I am not very familiar with them. For other reasons, we consciously decided against sliding doors. In your case, though, I would seriously consider it and ask the window manufacturer.

Is that your opinion back then? Current opinion? How does it look later in practice? I am currently sitting after work on my outdoor couch in the south. In the west it is usually too windy, even at this time. Therefore, on every side where it is possible, we allow access to the garden. Of course, it does not have to be paved yet, but not every area is equally suitable for summer, autumn, and spring…

An exit to the south was the opinion at the time (floor plan not reasonably planned according to the property, although they chose the property precisely because of the open space to the west;)). Today I would like to have two exits (so that you don’t always have to walk around the retaining wall to get directly to the lawn), but I would only pave towards the west. Once built over, it doesn’t go away so quickly. I hope anyway that in a few years a nice shady spot might also become available in the garden.

I just measured the table, it is 120x80cm, so it should be quite easy to fit next to the opening door elements, even with chairs. Possibly also rotated 90 degrees, the space in both directions is more or less the same. I would discuss the planning with the window manufacturer tomorrow. Standing sashes in blue, primary sashes in green. I would also bring up the topic of sliding doors and then see further depending on the costs. Tending not to for the south side, maybe for the west side.
