Terrace bed - integrate the bed into the area?

Hello everyone,

I need your creativity. In the next few days/weeks, we will finally get our terrace done after 3 years.
I was actually always happy with one or two pots. But now, thanks to my garden, I’ve caught the bug and would like to have a bit more color on the terrace as well.

Our terrace is nicely large (5x9m) and will have light gray tiles with a wood pattern. I’m attaching pictures for you.

But now I’m quite clueless about how to nicely add a flower bed there. I’ve already thought about putting two dark gray raised beds in the big free corner, around the corner.
Inside, I would like to have thyme, lavender, and possibly my small willow shrub.

My husband doesn’t want a flower bed integrated into the surface, so I would have to magically add it outside.

Help me!

Oberlach! Are you just calling for help from another man? No, seriously! The corner raised bed option is great and would fit in, and it’s not set in stone. You can change the corner and the raised bed anytime. Visually, I think it’s good! We ourselves have two (raised beds) and they are perfect especially for herbs, edible flowers, etc.

If it should be flexible at first, this might be something for you? I saw it some time ago in a furniture store and thought it was quite okay for the price. It is not a full-fledged raised bed, but rather a raised bed with a water reservoir. Keter Garten-Blumentopf Sequoia

Maybe my suggestion comes too late, but containers made of Corten steel with a rust look would certainly fit well with the great big rusty iron ring on your terrace. There are various versions at Hornbach, and they are still reasonably affordable there. They last forever.

A willow does not fit at all in a terrace raised bed with lavender and thyme. They like it sunny, hot, and dry, just not too much water. A willow likes it moist. How big do you want it to grow? You have a great big area, a large tree would suit it well... I would like that too.

The willow would get its own corner and be kept relatively small. In other words, it would remain a small bush. Not taller than 1 meter, but it could hang downwards.

The terrace is finished for now. Now I can calmly look for options. I have also already thought about raised bed pots like those from Keter. My husband really wants to build raised beds for me. I'm just unsure whether I would like them to be mobile or firmly buried.
