A nice weekend to everyone!

I want to pave the driveway to my detached house. This should be done professionally in the future as part of an extension, e.g. paving, but this will only be possible in 4-5 years.

Until then, I would like to do this provisionally myself. The house is located on a hill, and the driveway is supposed to split halfway, thus reaching the back and front areas of the house.

Currently, part of the driveway is minimally paved, almost like a dirt road, the other part is just grass.

My plan: mow completely, loosen the soil about 15 cm deep, bring in a truck with gravel, spread it, compact it with a vibrating plate, bring in a second load of gravel, compact again.

Overall, it is about 70 x 2.5 m, so quite a stretch. Thanks for your opinions.

Regards, Michael

Ask the pavers or garden and landscape builders how they would like it to avoid having to excavate everything again. Should the paved path be used for a Bobby car, car, van, or 10-ton truck? Extension sounds like a construction road 40t possibly.

If you now only excavate 15 cm and do it properly in a few years, you will have the problem that dirt is mixed with mineral concrete.

Build the substructure correctly from the start. And the paving if you have the money.

I thought that if gravel / chippings work well and are compacted once a year, then it could stay like that for the time being. Because a lot of money is already going into the construction, I would postpone the 250sqm paving if possible...

Isn't there a construction road leading to your house, or is it still being built?

You mean at the municipal level? But there is a road, my project relates to everything that lies on my property away from the road. The house, as mentioned, is quite a distance away.
