Hello everyone,

We are currently in the house planning phase, my idea would be to place the technical room with gas boiler, ventilation system, washing machine, dryer, electricity, etc. on the upper floor.
Our house is to be built without a basement, since we want a double garage, it is integrated into the house...
This way we would have more space on the ground floor and I wouldn’t have to design the technical room in a minimal way.
Thank you very much!
Best regards, MaJu

If you do that, be careful with soundproofing during the planning. Topic, ventilation system, and finally washing machine all make more or less noise, hum, and vibrate. Furthermore, installers will of course always have to go to your upper floor for maintenance, etc. (although I wouldn’t find that so bad) If it otherwise fits the floor plan... why not.

We simply want the multi-user workstation on the ground floor, the soundproofing is a good thing [.] Next to the technical room will be the bathroom and in front of it the bedroom, I will discuss this with the architect. Thank you

Do you actually need the additional space? We have an adjoining room on the ground floor (but the washing machine and dryer go there) and a utility room upstairs for ironing, sewing, etc.

Many terraced houses have the gas boiler in the attic, which is quite common. One must consider that the house connections are still located on the ground floor and require space there. The utilities must then be routed upwards through a suitable shaft. It must also be checked what requirements the suppliers impose. The meters will possibly still be very close to the house connection on the ground floor.

Since a storage room on the ground floor makes sense anyway, I would plan the technology on the ground floor and the utility room as such on the upper floor.
