An access point should be installed where the highest speed is desired. On the ground floor, I wouldn’t put it at the stairs but rather in the living area.
Good point. I will place one directly in the living room so that the terrace is also covered. Additionally, there is the Fritzbox in the HAR, which covers the hallway and guest WC, where speed is not that important anyway.
Upstairs, I will better install two directly.
Personally, I am a fan of APs with POE power supply.
I’ll take a look at that. It certainly looks nicer without cable clutter on the ceiling.
Yes, you’re right, sorry about that.
A burn point is a cable coming out of the wall. Unfortunately, that doesn’t invalidate my argument.
The electrician charges you 50 EUR for the burn point. Usually, he cannot mix costs there... one burn point, one cable, no matter how long. For the spot, he still has to install a socket and a lamp. He sums that up to 96 EUR. Pride price, yes.
You’d have to ask what a burn point plus flush-mounted box would cost you...
And there is my suspicion that you won’t get this significantly cheaper than without the lamp (minus the price of the lamp itself)...
In that case, the socket would actually cost you less... but whether he’ll do it like that...
He knows that you’re only having the sockets installed to throw them away and then mount a lamp...
I could understand the electrician if he doesn’t do it that way.
Thanks for your honest assessment. But if the electrician doesn’t install my burn points (whether with or without box) or my sockets where I want them, that borders on fraud. What I do with them afterwards is my business and none of his concern. I don’t find his attempt to sell me orientation lights with an upcharge problematic. And since I really don’t know much about this, it almost works out. But if I reject that, it should also be okay.
Sorry to all who are in the situation you described, then the industry would really be worse than thought.
I’ll get back to you when there is news to report ;)
