Your experience does not contradict my statement. My statement was that for the money a listed building consumes, you can also get something else with higher living comfort. That an old house has other advantages is undisputed, I also live in one (but not listed)...

Did the OP mention anything about monument protection? Then I would share your opinion. Otherwise, it might also depend on what you value. Apparently, I have a pretty messed up taste, because if I find a house "beautiful," it is almost always at least 100 years old. If you primarily want "a lot of living space for little money," building new is often cheaper than renovating. I consider "cheap renovation" to be very problematic; it often doesn't make people happy.

Yes, the house in question here is under monument protection. I also find old houses significantly (!) more appealing aesthetically; we seem to be similar on that...
