That wasn't really the main point. The main aspect was (and the sentence you quoted continued and, in my view, was made even clearer in my reply to Pagoni) the quality of Steinberg. Whether it is acceptable or whether I am inviting problems for myself. Basically, I don't have an issue with China; I have enough things from China at home that work perfectly.

My answer to that is yes - I cannot judge whether complaints and spare parts can still be obtained after 20 years. However, they have each worked just as well as other brands for a few years in two properties.

What I just don't like is when someone writes "made in Germany" and then has it produced elsewhere.

When that still meant "really all Parts made in Germany," the EU was still the EEC and the Chancellor was still Adenauer.

Actually, it clearly says on the Steinberg site that only the "High End" Crystal series is manufactured in Germany. The rest is just "Designed in Germany." However, I can't say anything about the quality of the production. Whether China or Germany says little about that...

We have been using the 100 series from Steinberg in matte black for 2 years. I still find them visually excellent and have no complaints regarding functionality. The black coating is not very durable. On two mixers, there are spots on one edge where the underlying material shows through, as if the mixer lever scrapes somewhere during careless use. This is so discreet that it does not detract from the appearance and is OK for me, but it also indicates that the quality is not top-notch. Considering the prices, which are very affordable compared to other matte black fittings, this still meets my expectations. Therefore, I would not describe the processing quality in the finish as top.
