Hello everyone,
we are already well advanced with the house planning, only our main bathroom on the upper floor still makes us ponder a bit. Maybe you have ideas on how we could redesign the bathroom a little?

Many thanks for your ideas and suggestions ;)

Here are the facts:

Building plan/restrictions
Plot size --- 600 sqm
Slope --- yes
Number of parking spaces --- 3

Requirements of the builders
Style, roof shape, building type --- hipped roof single-family house
Basement, floors --- yes 3 basements, ground floor, upper floor
Number of people, age --- 2+2 (children) or 2+3 (children)
Space requirements on ground floor, upper floor
Office: family use or home office? --- home office
Occasional overnight guests --- rare
Conservative or modern construction --- rather conservative
Open kitchen, kitchen island --- kitchen separated from dining room by double doors, kitchen island
Number of dining seats --- at least 6
Fireplace --- yes, in the living room
Balcony, roof terrace --- we deliberately chose the corridor with a door on the west side on the upper floor, as we wanted to keep an option open to extend a roof terrace there
Garage, carport --- double garage

House design
Who designed it: --- architect
What do you like especially? Why? --- We are already very satisfied with the plan
What don’t you like? Why? --- Only the bathroom on the upper floor we would still like to optimize. Currently, the bathtub and shower are oriented to the north, and we find this a bit cramped. Actually, we always wanted a freestanding bathtub in the north with a panoramic window facing north; there we have an unobstructed view of fields. Does anyone have an idea how we can arrange the bathroom better? This will be our main bathroom (for all family members).
Many thanks in advance for your ideas and suggestions

The narrow north window - can it be made even bigger so that one can truly enjoy the ultimate north view? As it is, it is far too meager.

If you want a freestanding bathtub there, then the window also has to be bigger. However, I think freestanding still looks rather cramped, maybe a built-in one in the corner there with tiled shelves!? Freestanding would probably work with a width of 2.60m, or a wall-mounted version?! The shower would then have to either move to the wall by the stairs with a glass panel as a partition to the front and enough space for splash water on the sides, or into the corner by the children's room. I don't see many more possibilities. But of course, it also depends on where it is possible to drain the wastewater? The current proposal is very cramped when it comes to the shower/bathtub, and the window is also a bit small.

Is it planned in the design to have no separation between the shower and the bathtub? Like here:

A room with 6m (!) length and only 2.60m width - quite weak for a new building. Are you sure that the staircase absolutely has to go there?

I agree. 1/3 of it can’t be used meaningfully because of that. And the “bowl” right in view when the door opens. On top of that, this is for 4 people (possibly even 5). For a detached house, the width and square meters aren’t sufficient. If the tub should stay upstairs, the shower basically doesn’t fit anywhere. That’s why, shower upstairs, tub by the sink or even further down towards the door. I also read home office? Where? Is there a basement living area?
