Also wanted something simple and chose Somfy. Just had simple iO radio motors installed everywhere and that was it. We planned/bought the control system later as a DIY project.

It can be upgraded from simple to relatively smart.

We have the simple control unit (app + timer) and inexpensive radio switches (20-40€ at the auction house starting with an e and ending with bay), which can be paired with one or more motors.

Somfy will not disappear from the market anytime soon and is widely spread.
Disadvantage of Somfy: proprietary.

Somfy radio motors, iobroker on a PI for that. DIY solution, cheap for that.

: Do you have a solution to control Somfy io with third-party components? Somfy io is proprietary, as far as I know that is not possible. (Unless you solder onto paired remote controls).

I have the Connexoon box. Yes, satisfied, everything works smoothly, installation was easy and I only had to explain to the craftsmen that I wanted io motors and that they need power. During construction, I didn’t want to deal with complex controls or wiring plans for cables (more expensive than radio in my case), but I also didn’t want the limitations that can sometimes come with permanently installed wired switches with timers. Components like switches are cheap in online auctions. However, I view the closed standard critically, so I would look for something open and future-proof. The only thing I miss with the control system is a larger offset for sunrise/sunset. It only works up to one hour before/after. Maybe with the large box for control it works.
