We have always had (since I was born) a small shower spray with a flexible hose next to the toilet. This allows for perfect cleaning. Ok... we don’t have warm water running through it. But that’s easy to consider beforehand. (No one has ever complained about the temperature).

Now it's getting bizarre.

I can understand both.

My solution: moist toilet paper.
I can only recommend it!

This is really getting concrete now [emoji85][emoji85]. Content-wise correct, but now a bit too much for me [emoji23].

But ypg, I hope your question is now sufficiently answered [emoji23]

Please don’t take this question as a request to be EVEN more specific, but out of lack of experience, a practical question. Isn’t it totally impractical to spray your butt after using the toilet?! Doesn’t the potentially contaminated water run down your butt and legs or splash onto the hand holding the nozzle? Seriously, I lack the imagination here and also don’t see how it is more hygienic or makes toilet paper unnecessary. The butt is wet and the toilet is probably damp from the water/mist, meaning you wipe again with paper. And if I were a guest using a toilet equipped with such a washing device, I wouldn’t dare touch it – just the thought of what others might have done with it before makes me gag... and is the handset really that much more hygienic?! Somehow I just don’t get the enthusiasm for it... [emoji51]

I somehow don't want to go into that now. It works in other countries too. It's not that hard.

Regarding the original issue: our sanitation guy can't install the hygiene shower according to the standards, so now there are just two of those toilets. Topic closed for us.

I also don't find it interesting enough to elaborate further. I think when the pit latrine was still standard, similar questions were asked [emoji6]

Well, if you use a proper shower toilet, it’s quite different: a spray arm extends from below, cleans the mentioned areas, and afterwards it dries with warm air... Very pleasant feeling, warm water for cleaning and drying. You don’t need to use your hand with a spray, and the toilet doesn’t get dirtier than a normal one. And it’s definitely more hygienic than a normal toilet while saving toilet paper at the same time.
