Hello,
we are planning a niche/shelf in our shower with the dimensions 50 x 30. Now the site manager asked me at what height we would like to have it. Therefore the question to you, who also has such a niche/shelf and at what height does it start for you? Your measurements would also be interesting for comparison.

Thanks in advance

We oriented ourselves somewhat to the tiles - so I think ours goes from 1.2 m to 1.5 m and is 30x30. It has a very good size and height for shower stuff - since it is limited, it also somewhat prevents the 400-almost-empty-bottles problem.

Exactly there I was thinking that one should orient oneself to the tiles. But since the compartment comes in beforehand, I think 120 m is a good height also in coordination with the tile format 30x60.

Thank you for the photo

Could you please also recommend something regarding the depth (for us the question arises whether it has to be an 11 cm or a thick 17.5 cm partition wall).

Thank you.

Hello,

We have had our niche installed both in size (as large as a tile 30 x 60) and in height (above the 4th row - so roughly at 1.20m + starting with the grout).

In terms of depth, I would recommend a minimum of 10 cm - this way shower gel & shampoo bottles also fit in sideways.

What you absolutely need to pay attention to: The tile that covers the bottom of the niche should be laid by your tiler with a very slight slope towards the shower - this allows splashed water to drain away from the niche on its own and doesn’t always have to be wiped out manually.

We also have a slight slope in ours, it works perfectly this way without the risk that full shampoo bottles slip out and smash your toes...

Regards,

Dirk

We have integrated the compartments into a Ytong pre-wall and have about 10 cm "structural dimension" - so 8 cm after tile. I would not recommend less, since the bottles are supposed to go in with the deep side into the compartment. Just measure a few bottles you use. With a freestanding partition wall, 11 cm would be quite tight, right?
