Shower directly at the window - compatible or incompatible?

Hello my dears,

currently my wife and I are planning a semi-detached house with 125 m² of living space.

During the planning process, I realized that a second shower option would be advantageous. However, since you won’t have a space miracle with 125 m², I have to think carefully about how to use the space optimally. For this reason, I tried to use a "dead" corner in the parents' bedroom, which was originally intended as a makeup corner or something similar.

In the original plan (makeup corner) there was a window on the outside of the semi-detached house. When I informed the general contractor about my changes concerning the shower, the responsible architect removed the formerly existing window without comment.

I don’t like that at all because

[*]I had the "plan" that opening the window would allow humidity to be immediately removed and this option is now gone.
[*]I thus have less daylight in the room.

Now I would like to know from you whether it is advisable to have a window or something similar installed next to the shower anyway. Possibly you have alternative solutions on how I can accommodate another window in the bedroom.

Thanks! :)

Ask the architect why he removed the window. We had a window in the shower area and it was fine. But for my property and permanently I see a problem with moisture, and also generally an open shower in the bedroom is a matter of taste.

Weitere Fenster:
Swap bed and wardrobe. Move the bed slightly downwards according to the plan, then there would be space for a window between the shower and the bed.

Hello :)

apart from the missing window, I find the lonely shower in that spot quite unusual. The issue of humidity has already been mentioned. Do you have tiles in the bedroom?

What about the guest toilet downstairs? Can't anything fit there? It doesn't have to be walk-in.

I find the shower there a big mess. You build a house, spend a ton of money, and right from the start it looks unplanned. The added shower upstairs is too prominent and is subordinate to many things. Whoever showers there will have the feeling of showering in a storage closet. And where will the drainage be? Along the length, definitely towards the main bathroom with drainage problems! Why is there no window on the side at all? Why is the wardrobe on the exterior wall? Why is there no storage space upstairs for the vacuum cleaner and broom? What’s missing are two washbasins for 4 people! You can still shower in the tub. And proper bathroom planning!

Good morning,

first of all, thank you for your feedback.

At the beginning of the planning, the second shower was in the guest WC. The guest WC is surrounded by the utility room and hallway. Due to a small shower, the adjacent utility room became very small, so in the end, the utility room would have had to be sacrificed in order to accommodate a shower.

Yes, that is still constantly on my mind... I will call about it later...

Thanks for the tip, I will address it! :)

In the initial plan, there was a window there, which has now been removed. For this reason, I wanted to know if a shower and window are compatible due to mold or something similar.

That can easily be arranged by swapping it. :)

I actually hadn’t thought about that at all and was only focused on having "enough" storage space on the ground floor.

Thanks for the hint, then the wall has to be extended.

Oh dear, is it that bad? :( I would appreciate advice because I actually thought the bathroom was quite good. But I have no experience at all. :(

I was already worried about posting this online because it’s a passionless standard.

Ouch again!

I noticed that right away too. Having a windowless side wall in a semi-detached house is to be expected. But to do without windows on two sides of the house at least on the upper floor, or to have only a single window in the area of the poorly planned shower, that rather has the character of a terraced middle house. ;)
Is there actually a plan of the ground floor anywhere?
