A package offer is not meant to educate the customer about the calculation, but rather to be cheaper as a whole than all its parts. You can buy a Golf complete, which is a great idea for its purpose. Or you go around the corner, not through the big door to the car dealer, but through the side entrance to the parts seller. Then you ask again what the Golf costs in individual parts: six figures! It’s similar with the builder, and there is nothing wrong with that in itself. Want very special sports rims? – then order the car with winter tires. That also works with the house: change the construction service description to bare lightbulbs hanging from the ceiling and then get the great designer lights from Ingvar Kamprad yourself. You can get separate quotes for each trade. But what will regularly happen to you is that another provider will charge only 95 % of the price, which initially sounds 5 % cheaper – but the general contractor will only give a 92 % discount if you want to leave it out. And then in the end it becomes 3 % more expensive. Packages, after all. That’s not the case for all items; in total you manage to save peanuts. And for those you get several contacts for complaints. Is that really a gain?

Certainly, but the main point is that the package discount increases with the scope of the package. Such a thing usually only becomes worthwhile if the brother-in-law is a heating engineer. Removing small trades is rather hardly worthwhile.

Planning 240 m2 for ground floor, upper floor and basement. Have been offered a price of 700 euros per m2 for the shell construction. Included in the price are also a concrete stair landing, chimney, cistern with 3500 liters, structural engineering and architectural supervision. No roof is included.
