Sewage smell / Ventilation system

That is definitely a construction defect, how long ago was the building acceptance? First, I would engage with the trades in a friendly manner and reach an agreement on installing the correct distances. If this cannot be resolved, the person who last worked on the system (of the two trades) should be contacted and asked to install the connection. If nothing happens afterward, a lawyer should be involved to take care of it.

Thanks for the info. We bought everything turnkey. Interestingly, the developer himself told me why the ventilation system in the house produces these odors, but did not consider it necessary to do anything about it. We have now set this as a defect to be remedied within a deadline.

That is the right approach. The normal deadline here is 2 weeks. Within this time, at least the company should have contacted you.

In turnkey construction, the trades should definitely be able to coordinate with each other, which speaks in your favor to win in court (in the worst case). Now it is crucial to gather all the information you have (building plans, contracts). Was an architect involved? He should have noticed the error, been informed about the issue, and expected to provide solution proposals (deadline of 2 weeks).
