Then don't forget the network connection for the smart toilet paper holder. PCs sure, NAS sure but the other devices either don't need network access at all or only very sporadically with low bandwidth or they are mobile devices (tablets etc.) that do not work better but worse with a cable.

Children are also only human, so empathizing with their needs shouldn't be too difficult. Just imagine yourselves in the room and think about what fits well where and what is needed. But it doesn't have to be overdone with power outlets and so on, I think.

That's exactly what I basically wanted to get at. If something requires bandwidth, Wi-Fi with tons of devices is definitely the worst choice. Consoles, TVs, and PCs need the appropriate bandwidth, and they shouldn’t have to share it with a bunch of crappy devices on Wi-Fi.

The murky devices rarely need bandwidth and if they do, it's not much. Real 500 Mbit in the radio cell are not really overwhelmed by 10 Mbit HD streaming, 3-4 Mbit online gaming, and WhatsApp in the kilobyte range. This panic about collapsing WLAN is really unfounded. Current mesh systems now require two gigabit Ethernet ports and also use them. IoT, even in households, is based on wireless, 5G sends greetings. We have an average of 30 mobile devices per access point active (!) in the WLAN at work and that works perfectly. And at least the laptops can of course also be used wired, but simply no one wants that anymore and it no longer reflects the mobile use even within a building.
