Today (and you can clearly see that here in the forum) most builders want slab-on-grade plots so they don’t have to build into the ground. Rather, there is tinkering back and forth about how much to dig out here and fill in there in order to conjure up a level plot even on a slight slope. Builders do want basements, but above ground as a nine-meter garage. Especially with semi-detached houses, basements are least in demand, because they are seen as a cost factor. Don’t forget: for those building a semi-detached house, it is often decisive for their plot budget that it can be a little narrower due to the building line. Logically, they do not simultaneously have “too much” money for the extra cost of slab foundation - basement.
