Data protection will probably be ensured. Or why should it not be ensured precisely at this point?

And principle is always good. See answer above: The bank is the one who decides whether a loan is granted or not. If the bank then refuses the loan on principle, you’re out of luck.

I would argue that the bank is more interested in gaining me as a customer than not.

I think you better shouldn’t deal with Creditreform and the like, they do such dirty work that it will make you feel bad, because we evaluate your payment behavior with online purchases, mobile phone bills, eBay, and so on. This data is collected or made available by the online shops and put into a score, the Schufa is still humane compared to that.

PS. Everyone knows the Mediamarkt 0% financing!?! That gives minus points if you use it.

Basically, I agree with you to a certain extent. Business is (if well calculated) better than no business. But no bank depends on a single specific customer if they are bothered by a certain point (which is simply always mandatory). The lender sets the rules for granting credit. This has always been the case and will certainly remain so for a while.

And that's exactly where the problem lies. Credit institutions that think they can set all the rules, possibly even when these contradict other laws (data protection, etc.), and also when consumers accept everything without question. And as long as borrowers have free choice, they should also make use of it ;) In the rental of highly sought-after properties in metropolitan areas, sometimes illegal scenarios are carried out... As I said, I just wanted to gauge how far people are allowed to go here.

Creditreform? Sounds really scary...
