Hi everyone,

I already wrote here that my shower tray becomes leaky at the edge over time because the edges were not supported by the craftsman (neither the clamps nor stones). Thus, the stress on the silicone is so high that it becomes leaky quite quickly. Also, the wall and floor were not sealed. I want to make up for that now. I have completely dismantled the shower. My materials that I have procured: PCI Lastogum, PCI sealing tape, and PCI sealing membrane. However, now it is not easy to install according to the instructions because of the pipes. I could simply lay the sealing membrane (1m2) over the pipes and attach it at the sides with the sealing tape and Lastogum. That would probably work, but what if water still gets through? Then it would collect under the tray :-(

I saw that there is also a self-adhesive tray sealing tape, which normally goes under the tiles but would seal the tray edge even more.

Another idea is a new shower tray that has a recess or edge so that water does not stay on the edge for so long but immediately drains away. (Mine is level)

I would be happy if someone has any other ideas or tips.

Best regards
Christian

In this condition, it's all just tinkering. Actually, at least the lower part of the tiles should be removed (or even all of them, so that the wall can be properly waterproofed). As a makeshift solution, you can check if there is a shower tray carrier that has its own drainage. You have to imagine the frame like a U. The shower tray is placed inside it. So, if water "splashes over" the edges of the shower tray, it runs into the tray carrier and through a drainage opening into the drain.

stupid question: That's a hidden defect, right? No longer available from BU or incredibly long ago? The sealing MUST be done, that's not an optional service ;-)

Otherwise, I see it the same way as . My nephew has such a shower tray from one of the big players in the sanitary goods manufacturing industry (because of timber frame construction, and as everyone knows, water is especially harmful there)

I would remove the first row of tiles, seal everything with a liquid plastic. Set sealing tape. Get a new bathtub carrier that also supports on the wall.

If you no longer have tiles, take the bottom row in black, it looks as if it was planned that way.
