Sampling vs. Reality

a quick question to all of you who have already completed your house construction. Was there a time when you thought: "Oh dear, what did we choose here? It doesn't look at all like we imagined?"

We are currently struggling a bit with the tiles in the hallway. But maybe that will change after the painter has finished and the furniture, especially the staircase, is in.

I haven't built yet, or rather we are currently in the middle of it, but I also have the fear that I might have made mistakes in some areas (for example, the window installer was quite taken aback by my opinion of "I also want anthracite-colored windows on the inside!"... that unsettles me.). I'll jump in here.

I think that's cool, and it's a pity that we have white on the inside.

So far, we have only made minor changes during the construction phase. But that is also because we pedantically planned for more than a year and we are building with individual contracts. You have to come to the point where you say to yourself, "now it's right." Only things that then appear during the construction phase that do not correspond with the original idea I would tackle again.... 100% is indeed the goal but practically not achievable. There is a thread here in the forum where someone is trying. I am curious how that will turn out.

With the first house, we made some decisions too quickly, also because the developer pressured us. The bathroom tiles we had chosen didn't really appeal to us afterwards, especially because the plastic trim didn't match in color. That's why we are taking a lot more time with the new house and are really struggling with some decisions.
