You can of course have a significantly safer staircase installed at your own expense.

Hello,

A construction staircase is, as the name suggests, an aid to overcome floors during the construction phase; it doesn't have to win any beauty awards. The craftsmen and the site manager have to dare to use it and generally do so.

It is not designed nor practical for transporting furniture. I also doubt that you can or should bring the furniture into the house before installing the final staircase. If you do, get a small pallet truck and do it through the floor-to-ceiling window elements on the upper floor.

If you have to "check and coordinate" the work, are you the site manager? If you answer yes to my question, you should have ordered a construction staircase according to your wishes - including the commissioning of the staircase builder.

Rhineland regards

I find this staircase true luxury. Well, a spiral staircase as a construction staircase does look a bit unusual, but it seems to be common. I'll say: one should be able to adapt oneself to temporarily unfamiliar situations. Others can do it after all. If I don't like it or can't do it, the problem is mine, not others'.

P. S. We had nothing like that, just a ladder. And if the drywall installers can get their boards up there, the plumber the bathtub, I should be able to trust the ladder as well.

It'll be fine – just have courage!

Just briefly: no, I am not the site manager, but we award various trades ourselves and the trades awarded by Baisers are none of our site manager's business. We are responsible for the vinyl flooring, painting, tiling, and electrical work ourselves. And as has been shown so far, supervision is indeed important. Because even my site manager can't always "sense" what I like or don't like... I will try again this weekend to overcome myself and then write to the staircase builder to find out when the final staircase could be installed and how it could be protected. Alternatively, we will ask the site manager what a concrete staircase would cost...

For a concrete staircase it is imho too late; these are prefabricated parts if they are to be installed comparatively cost-effectively. Ergo, your site manager can "only" offer you a cast-in-place concrete staircase. If at all possible, his offer will likely result in an ugly price.

Even at the risk of you laughing at me: Go up the stairs by consistently looking upwards, not downwards and not at your feet. Make sure to walk at the widest part. You go down by looking at the walls. If that is not enough, go backwards and look upwards. After you have walked a few times, the fear will disappear and you can carry something.
