We had a fire on the upper floor and had to remove the entire roof insulation due to soot contamination. Our house is quite old, so there was only 10 cm of insulation between the rafters, without a vapor barrier or anything similar. The finish consisted of drywall panels, that was it. Back then, that was probably fine, but not anymore today? Our building insurance now only wants to restore the previous condition and not pay the additional costs for better thermal insulation. According to the insurance policy, however, additional costs justified by official requirements are to be reimbursed. I think the Energy Saving Ordinance requires better thermal insulation. Shouldn't the building insurance have to pay after all?
