Well, that has nothing to do with electric roller shutters - at least I find cranks or even straps ugly. And a central control is exactly good for shading. On the ground floor, we only have three venetian blinds, otherwise no roller shutters or similar.

That's how I imagine it too. When I look at the installation instructions for such tubular motors, it doesn't seem like a big effort. You just don't know if every window fitter is willing to do that. Otherwise, you would have to open the roller shutter box yourself again and then install the tubular motor.

My post referred to converting afterwards if you have chosen a belt or a crank... if the roller shutter installer has put in a shaft and you only have to install the motors, of course it becomes cheaper. That’s how I did it too, but here you may also have to buy bearings and/or adapters, because you might want completely different motors than those from the roller shutter installer.
