I can’t find any pictures now. We also had to dig deeper than the old retaining wall went. The wall was divided into 1.5m sections Dig 1.5 m and concrete, leave 3 m standing, dig 1.5 m and concrete, leave 3 m standing, etc. 1.5 m already concreted, 1.5 m dug out, 1.5 m left standing, etc. 3 m already concreted, 1.5 m dug out, etc. Thus, a small retaining wall was placed in front of the old one.
This was determined by the civil engineer, the architect, and the expert after a brief consultation with the structural engineer and geologist
This was also done with us according to the agreement between the civil engineer and the structural engineer. Unfortunately, I don’t have any photos where you can clearly see it. But if you search for “underpinning,” you can find it; I quickly attached a photo from the internet that shows the principle. As describes, the wall to be secured is divided into individual sections. You dig out the first and third sections, leaving the one in the middle standing. Then the 1st and 3rd sections are concreted (or built up, depending) up to the existing wall. When this has cured, the section left standing is dug out, and so on.
