Hello dear ones,

I hope you can help me: In my apartment, the previous tenants removed the sink that was mounted on a pre-wall element. So currently, at the washbasin area, I have a lightweight partition wall with two holes 28 cm apart, in which I see something that looks like nuts (with M10 markings). Behind these nuts, there seem to be M10 threads/anchors or similar. I was able to firmly screw an M10 threaded rod into the right hole for the new sink, but on the left side it wobbles, even though I cannot screw it in further. It also does not go in as far as on the right side. What does this indicate? And can it be repaired without having to tear off the lightweight wall along with the tiles?

I am a complete beginner when it comes to this kind of thing and now, after this discovery, quite worried... I will have a plumber come, but I would like to be informed in advance about the possibilities and any potential costs. I hope you can give me some advice!

Many greetings

The thread may have been somewhat damaged. The plumber will know what to do and how to fix it properly without having to tear everything down.

Thank you very much for the encouragement. Since you are a mod: I think I created the thread in the wrong subforum. Would you perhaps like to move it to the [Sanitär-Forum]?

Hi, I would calmly withhold the deposit and pay for the damage from it. Why did the previous tenants just remove the washbasin? Olli

I looked at the matter again and brought photos. What I thought was a nut is not. And what I thought was a thread is probably just a perforated metal strip.

I am grateful for any solution approach on how to mount a washbasin on it reasonably securely!

The previous tenants removed the then brand new wall-mounted basin to place their own basin on a base cabinet in front of it that was already splintering at the bottom – completely without wall mounting. I took this down because it was too unsafe and ugly for me.
