Repayment change needed? Or better terms?

Hmm, thanks first of all for your input. However, my question was more aimed at whether one can trust that the banks will try to help in an emergency situation by reducing repayments or whether one should rather secure oneself through the corresponding contract, which might then have higher interest rates.

In the end, only what you have in writing counts. Basically, the bank will of course try to avoid a default since that only means costs for the bank.

Of course, you can talk to the bank if the money runs out. But it’s not a pleasant conversation and you are dependent on the goodwill of the bank ...

[Tilgungswechselmöglichkeit] is one of the most important elements of financing for me.

Is the assumption that having an interest rate increase as a result of a change in the repayment rate in the contract justified? It was never an issue for us, I believe we are allowed to change the repayment rate twice, that was "stipulated" by the bank. It would be new to me that you would get a lower interest rate if you remove that?

I hope every builder still has an emergency fund to bridge a few months of unemployment. Then there will be less vacation taken that year. This applies to all short-term problems.

Long-term unemployment, permanent losses, etc. are generally bad. Besides the problem of being able to pay the installment, the moment of truth comes at the latest with the follow-up financing. Or at retirement, a lot is still unsettled.

No one needs an increase in repayment. Special repayments are enough.

So far, we have increased the repayment three times in two different loans; it made a lot of sense for us.

Best regards
