Hello everyone. How is the lighting at your home? Have you already switched to LED?

We have now installed LED lights in most rooms, and I have to say that I actually don't notice any difference compared to the light from incandescent bulbs. The big advantage is that you can leave the light on longer without feeling guilty and it quickly becoming expensive. Especially now in the darker months, the lights in our house are on very often. I am really glad that we have LEDs.

I recently learned from my brother that you can also rent LED lights. Have you heard of this concept before? I actually found the idea quite interesting, even if it is mostly relevant for companies that need to light large workshops or industrial halls… so nothing for private homes. Still, I wonder how it all works and what the advantages are. Maybe someone here has experience with it at work? It would be exciting to hear about it; I really can't imagine it. :-)

I have already converted the majority to LED, for a few lamps I am still waiting until the bulb gives out ;) I don’t really notice a difference anymore. However, I have consciously changed something in some rooms. In the bathroom, for example, I chose brighter, slightly whiter light because my girlfriend wanted it that way for makeup etc. But I also find it more pleasant like this and the room now looks bigger. Well, I don’t keep the light on longer now even though it is cheaper. If I don’t need light, I turn it off. I have heard of a rental concept before. The advantages are certainly tax benefits on one hand, and on the other hand, you don’t need your own capital for the conversion. In large companies, it costs a bit more. Other advantages would certainly be that you don’t have to worry about maintenance or that you are more flexible. You don’t have to wait until everything has paid for itself.

hehe I know that! some light bulbs just don’t want to give up. That’s probably a manufacturing defect, that they last for decades? :P Yeah true, leaving the light on extra bright doesn’t really help, just because you think you’re saving money. But I think over time it does pay off quite well. And we do use a lot of light at home when it gets dark early outside. Ok, the concept sounds pretty promising. How does the whole thing work then? Did you introduce it at your company as well or where do you know it from? :-)

With LED lighting, you can save quite a bit, not just money but also energy, which ultimately is good for nature and the climate. I am familiar with the rental concept from Deutsche Lichtmiete; at my girlfriend's workplace, a retrofit was done, and she gathered some information about it. That's how I got to know a bit about it. First, a lighting planner comes who calculates everything and adjusts it individually. Based on those calculations, a plan is then created for the retrofit. Once everything has been retrofitted, maintenance becomes the responsibility of the landlord, meaning you don't have to take care of it yourself.

Yes, I also really like the environmental aspect of LED lamps. I try to live sustainably, and especially with LEDs, you really have no effort at all. Ah, good, interesting. I have actually never heard of that before. But I find the idea exciting. Are these mostly large companies that get converted that way, or does it also exist in smaller ones, do you know? Or rather, how big is the company where your friend works? Maybe you can draw some conclusions from that. :)

The company where my girlfriend works is very large. They have several production halls as well as some warehouse halls. The bigger the company, the more likely it is that professional firms will have to be used. At home, you probably wouldn’t do it that way, which is understandable because you have much less to take care of there. There are hardly any guidelines to follow at home, but there are at the workplace. I don’t know if there is an exact number of square meters or lamps from which you can do it that way, but at least with Deutsche Lichtmiete, they specialize in industrial halls. If you turn to them, for example, it should definitely be an industrial operation with warehouse halls and so on.
