Renovation 7m² Bathroom Offer

Hello!

Here in East Frisia, I have received a first offer from a local heating and bathroom company. It is a complete demolition and reconstruction of a bathroom from the 1990s. All items remain in their place. The company manages the project from start to finish.

I find the many details reassuring. At first, the price was surprising, but perhaps it can be reduced by choosing cheaper materials. Next week we will visit the company and discuss the details, e.g. bathroom ceramics, bathroom furniture, tiles, etc.

I am considering getting an offer from another company for comparison. What do you think of the offer?

Tiles seem a bit expensive to me (but it could also be the market situation) The rest is normal craftsman pharmacy price. So not super cheap but also not really expensive. For the shower, it would depend on the specific set, as there are ranges between 250-2000 EUR....

I don't know if these are the maximum prices for such a large bathroom, and since our bathroom is smaller, the final offer will be lower. Something we need to ask.

Especially with tiles, the area to be tiled is usually specified. So floor and wall surface! This is very important! Don't let there be a misunderstanding between you.

Yes, I hope the price will be reduced when the exact tile requirements are discussed.

So, we also had our bathroom renovated a year ago. Slightly smaller (6 sqm), but also a new ceiling including spotlights and underfloor heating. However, for us, the washbasin was significantly larger and the other items somewhat more expensive, e.g., shower tray with non-slip, large mirrored cabinet, shower system with overhead shower, and the bathtub was also a very expensive model. Our offer was 27,000 EUR.
The implementation took place this year, we are still waiting for the invoice. Therefore, I cannot say for sure yet whether we stayed within the budget. However, many items in our offer were provided with an effort estimate and billed according to actual effort. And this estimate was overall very accurate.
Thanks to working from home, I was also able to track well who did what when and how long it took.

If you have time, definitely get a second offer. We didn’t, because we know the plumbing company and partially the employees, so we were quite confident that good work would be delivered (which ultimately was the case). We also knew that we had chosen some quite expensive items and were not too surprised by the price.
