Ah ok, so the previous owner was indeed quite active in the last 20 years and wanted to realize the thing as a "housing project with six small apartments.

However, that is not our plan!

If that is recorded somewhere, can we change it?

In 1850, Bertha Benz certainly did not give any reason to prescribe parking spaces per residential unit – so which bylaws are you talking about?

The city of Witzenhausen has a parking space and redemption regulation.

And since the house was completely rebuilt/renovated around 1990, I assume that the regulation came into effect at that time or shortly thereafter.

I could also imagine that the two other parking spaces are not large enough in terms of area; I need to measure later whether 5x2.5 meters will be sufficient.

I will call the building authority shortly and inquire about that.

Does anyone have experience with such things being changed later on during renovation measures, etc.

..., that the question was probably not appropriately answered with the foundation construction year.

If this was a four-party property, it must therefore have 6 parking spaces, 1.5 per party. Since you are now reducing it to two parties, which you had to prove to the authorities, three parking spaces are sufficient. But in two years when Grandma moves in, that won't be enough. Talk to the building authority.

So adding grandma is planned in about 15-20 years.

I spoke with the office and the lady was very kind, it looks as follows: the house was originally built as a single-family house, was actually reclassified as a four-family house, but if we now only want to use it with two families and there are no extra apartment doors/entrance doors with triple kitchens, there is nothing against it and I only have to provide proof if I want to add floors, not if I reduce.

By the way, it was said that they will only come to inspect if a building application for the extension of living space is submitted.

So lucky, I explicitly asked again how it looks regarding entries as a two-family house. No, it is not necessary.

But thank you very much for the help!
