our city villa (145 sqm) will be completely tiled. Additionally, the bathrooms will also have tiled walls.
It will be the same for us (9.40m x 9.40m, 2 floors). We had considered leaving out the tiling work, but not because of the price, rather because we couldn’t get our desired tiles. We decided against it because we are too afraid of not finding a tiler or messing up the coordination of the individual trades (even though it’s a prefabricated house). Due to the short-term price increase, we had to make so many compromises that one more or less doesn’t really matter now. ;-) I’m now also relying on the Pareto principle in house construction. ;-) I’ve been applying it in other areas of life for years as well. :) Building a house teaches you, among other things, to make compromises, which I find helpful, especially for people without children. ;-)
Hello.. I’m a tiler myself. I just did the math.. Without knowing more details about your situation, you’re already at around 18k for the area to be tiled. Tiles on top – with a lot of luck you might save €2000 by managing it yourself, but is it worth it?? Ps. 25 x 150 is not easy and can really only be done perfectly with a laying system. That all costs extra... Regards :)
I think your post is great. It’s always a gain for the forum when a professional speaks up. Otherwise, it quickly becomes one-sided and detached.
Do you already have someone who would do it? Around here, tilers now arrive in golden coaches, and that shouldn’t be underestimated…
That’s exactly the reason why we decided against it.
We did it that way the first time in 2001: accepted the house first, and then awarded tiles, floors, bathroom, and walls.
That’s exactly how we would like to do it too, but we don’t dare. Things were better in some ways 20 years ago. ;-)
