Hello everyone,

I am new to the Ikea universe, but I would like to get a Pax wardrobe soon because the interior design seems quite convincing.

Now I am facing the following problem: the wardrobe is listed with a height of 236cm, but unfortunately I have a 10cm wide overhang on the ceiling, so the room height at the wall measures 234-235cm – the actual ceiling height is much more generous at 265cm.
My question now is – what does the height specification refer to? Is there possibly a way to "modify" the back to make it fit after all?

Thank you very much!

Best regards

Hi Thirdeye, the exact height is 2364 mm. That's how long the side parts are. What do you mean by editing the back? If you have someone who could possibly shorten the sides at the bottom (watch out for left and right) and the base in height, that would be the easiest solution. Then you can equip it with regular hinged doors. Take a look on YouTube, I think there is even an instruction for that. Regards Mr. Rossi

Shortening the base would of course also be an alternative - thanks for the tip!

I had hoped that the specification of 236.4cm referred to the doors (I believe sliding doors need a bit more) and that the actual wardrobe top is somewhat lower. Or that maybe the side walls protrude a bit (which is the case with my current wardrobe) and could then be cut relatively easily!

Regards

Depending on space and setup situation: Simply place the cabinet about 10 cm in front of the wall and - if visible - build a panel on the side at the back in front of the slot.

I would be very reluctant to push forward - unfortunately, it doesn't really work visually or spatially in this room. Still, thank you for your concern!

But a little ventilation would be good.
And always breathe nicely into the third eye.
