Hello everyone,

we have decided on the Rotkalk plaster and will apply a Filz 1 top coat on it. This can be left as is or painted with a low diffusion paint.

We originally planned not to paint the Filz 1 in order not to worsen the good room quality, but we are not quite sure how the "look" will be and whether it might bother us if the walls sometimes "flake" a bit when touched and maybe show some shading. Have you had any experience with this and how satisfied are you?

Having it painted is definitely too expensive, so it is probably something we would do ourselves, and it wouldn’t have to be done immediately.

We painted it with silicate paint.

We tested it before painting:
Without painting, the grains in the topcoat would keep falling off.

After painting, it is much better now and we would always paint the walls with silicate paint again.

But there are also differences in the paints over there.
Just ask a good paint supplier.

We chose the system this way. Lime plaster undercoat and felted lime finishing plaster layer. Currently all without paint, and it should stay that way for now. We like it very much because it simply looks very natural - no opaque paint layer covering all color differences. Color differences are only visible if you get very close. Then you can see the beige, tiny grains of sand. If you step back a bit, the wall looks wonderfully bright, and shading is not visible. Yes, it "crumbles" a bit if you scrape the wall. We'll see how we feel about that in the long term. At the moment, it’s great as it is! If we ever have to/want to paint, it will definitely be with silicate paint. Otherwise, the good plaster is ruined. Also: even though we are not living in the house yet, we are already totally enthusiastic about the climate in the house! That was definitely a great decision! If we had wanted gypsum plaster, we would have had to look for a different plasterer. He said immediately: if you want such nonsense, look for someone else. I do not process that!
