Raise the curtain rods higher or let the roller shutter belt peek out?

So on the topic: curtain rods as high as possible, visually increases the room height (only useful if you want that, of course). So either right at the ceiling or as high as possible on the wall.

Which room is it? Why curtain rails/rods for such half-height windows? That would be too old-fashioned for me. Floor-to-ceiling windows, yes. There are modern solutions.

I don't know why the straps are where they are here...
... But I would generally install curtain rods as high as possible.. (and leave the curtains as long as possible)

I looked around some more, apparently that’s actually how it’s done. That reassures me.

There are curtain tracks that are attached directly to the ceiling anyway. For example from Ikea

Thank you, I just bought that for the large window. That way I can use a third bracket on the ceiling, which wouldn’t be so easy on the wall because of the roller shutter box.

Living/Dining/Cooking is the room. I like curtains. Our house is rather rural in style and not modernly furnished at all. We have pleated blinds in the bathroom, but I don't want them all over the house. I think curtains are a nice textile and make the room atmosphere cozy.

What else is supposed to be put on a half-height window so it doesn’t look so bare?

So, as of today the curtains are up. I have to say, it’s a completely different living experience / feels like a different room. Even my husband says so. I still need to buy the curtains one size longer, I probably measured myself a bit wrong. But overall, I like it.
