Hello everyone,
Since we will start building the house in a few weeks, I have just researched recommended insurances and have come to the conclusion that the following insurances are urgently necessary:
- Builder's liability insurance
- Construction all-risk insurance (I still have to clarify with our general contractor whether this might already be included)
- Fire shell construction insurance
The fire shell construction insurance will then be included in the residential building insurance that must be taken out anyway (up to 24 months included).
I have a few questions about this:
In that case, do I already take out the residential building insurance now and have to specify an approximate move-in date, or how does the insurance know when the building is finished? I only pay the insurance premium from the move-in date, right? So the insurance coverage exists during the shell construction phase (fire shell construction), but the first premium is paid later, correct?
Should one also insure against natural hazards and glass?
That does make a bit of a difference.
The residential building insurances last year received top marks from Focus Money.
Are there any other points to consider?
Many thanks in advance for your feedback and
Best regards
