Hello everyone,

I had already written about " ".

Meanwhile, the parquet has been sanded and sealed (for almost 3 weeks now) and we have further concerns regarding the quality.

- With the cove moldings, the impact sound strip is visible.

- With the 6cm moldings, there are unattractive gaps to the floor – how can this be corrected? Silicone?

- In one spot, the parquet has apparently warped upwards over an area of about 1m2; the screed was perfectly flat and has been in the house since 2003. What could be the cause?

- It is noticeable that the gaps between the parquet and the wall are very small in places (less than 3mm).

- Finally, is there a specification regarding the number of sealings for 1K in heavily used rooms? Unfortunately, this was not defined in the offer and I missed it during the construction stress (also my fault!).

Am I being too critical?

Thanks and regards

Hello .
Regarding your questions, the following:

Answer to 1)
The sound strip can be pushed back with a flat, blunt object (for example, a blunt knife) and the baseboard can be gently pressed from above onto the parquet surface.

Answer to 2)
Such gaps between the underside of the baseboards and the parquet surface cannot always be avoided.
This is because the baseboards were always planed straight and the surface of a screed (which inevitably must also follow the parquet) must comply with certain surface flatness limits, which will always be visible within the permissible range.
For example, if the underside of the baseboard touches the parquet surface at two points, the distance is 1m and the gap width is 4mm, this would definitely correspond to the still permissible limit value (Source: DIN 18202 Table 3 Line 3).
It can be corrected, but definitely not with silicone!!
Use an acrylic in a similar color as the baseboard wood. You can get the acrylic at any well-stocked hardware store.

Answer to 3)
The parquet is pressed hard against the wall. That won’t work.
However, before pulling out the big stick and going after the parquet installer, it may be that the wood material has expanded due to indoor climate conditions and now fills the previously sufficient expansion gap.
Could be – but doesn't have to be.
Anyway, here the parquet installer can restore the expansion gap with a shadow gap saw.
Distance to the wall for unheated screed: 5-8mm, for heated screeds at least 10mm.

Answer to 4)
Decisive are the specifications of the parquet varnish manufacturer.
It is definitely not the case that “more is better!”
The opposite can “backfire” on those who believe that.

Good luck: KlaRa

A thousand thanks for your detailed feedback! Unfortunately, it fits into an overall picture, starting with mosaic parquet laid with joints that are too wide, partially visible sanding waves, a hollow spot with creaking, a wave in the floor, the baseboards, disregarded specifications ... And this from an expensive provider like Bembe.

Have you talked to the craftsman? The photos only show that these are minor issues. You are looking for something and find something with a magnifying glass. Once the furniture is in place, you won't see any dents, etc.

I agree with you about the property. However, I did not have such problems with other trades either, especially since Bembe is not exactly a cheapo.

The boss went through it with me and unfortunately sees it the same way:
- Cove moldings were installed incorrectly on two floors, hence the white stripe (!!!)
- Slight sanding waves repeatedly visible, even without raking light
- Numerous small spots that still need to be repaired
- Insufficient gaps to the wall

In sum: Poor workmanship.

A new craftsman is coming, all moldings will be removed again, everything must be repaired, the price will be reduced. A lot of hassle and I just hope that the sealant hasn’t been done poorly as well (even though I haven’t seen anything).
