Hello everyone,

my wife and I are currently planning the construction of our single-family house with about 140 m2 and are considering whether to build it according to KFW 40 standard or not (for cost reasons). We have now received an offer from our construction company for a photovoltaic system with 6 KWP and a high-voltage battery from Varta with 6.5 KWh (about 18,000 euros). Since the battery alone costs almost 6,000 euros and I remember having read here in the forum that many reject a battery because a.) it is too expensive and b.) the money would rather be spent on additional photovoltaic modules, I wanted to ask how you would proceed in our situation. The installation of an air-to-water heat pump with central, decentralized or controlled residential ventilation is planned (we are also still considering this).

1.) Would you cancel the battery and replace it with more photovoltaic modules? If yes, how much KWP is recommended for a single-family house according to KFW 40/55 standard with "normal use," i.e., occasional home office?
2.) Or would you rather keep the battery and increase the performance of the photovoltaic system with additional modules?

Are there any other ideas and suggestions on what we should pay attention to in connection with the photovoltaic system?

Variant 1. Fill the roof and utilize all surfaces

Hello nordanney, thank you for your feedback. Does "fill completely" then mean to use the suitable roof surface to the maximum? And can you tell me approximately how many KWP would be roughly needed for our house? Are we talking about 9, 12, or 15 KWP here?

As much as the roof area allows and money is available.

we have 13 kwp photovoltaic with 9.6 kWh storage for 22T€, your contractor has exorbitant prices. So now build without photovoltaic and award the photovoltaic separately, the prices for photovoltaic are falling

our 13 kwp cover about 2500 kWh household electricity and 2500 kWh heat pump, the calculation model predicts a monthly residual electricity bill of 6€
