The garden is clear - but am I correct in seeing that you get a bit more sun directly at the house on the west terrace?

If the neighboring house casts a shadow, then you might even have more/longer sun on the east side. For us, the northeast corner is the one where the sun can be seen the longest.

When the sun is low in the west... you can view the shadow during the course of the sun de

Which west terrace directly at the house? If you take the left side of the plan = west half and wanted to place a terrace in the west (questionable how far permissible) within the setback from the boundary, that would only be possible in the rear part, because the neighbor's garage casts a shadow in the front. Or did you mean to place a terrace directly adjoining the house on the left side of the plan = west half into the north garden? As said: in my opinion, you get the most enjoyment of the sun in the east half. There you also get morning sun because the neighbor is not blocking the light; and in the north garden both sides are equally favorable, and it is only important that the semi-detached house partner does not want to put a chest-high fence on the shared boundary. As long as he does not do that, the shadow effect caused by the overgrowth from the west is far enough away.

The strip next to the west side appears so narrow that no meaningful terrace can/could be built there anyway, which is also shaded by the neighboring buildings.

Why does a terrace always have to be attached to the house? Why not a large pavilion-like seating area with a built-in grill and a trellis for a grapevine, etc. at the back of the garden? A curved path leads from the house to the seating area, that would be great!

PS. I am also a north garden builder^^ but voluntarily, because south would have been the street, north is a field... so house to the south and garden to the north... If your house was designed with height in mind, you can calculate the shadow cast at any time of day and year online and see how much garden remains sunny.
