Protecting freshly laid parquet - how would you proceed?

Good evening to you all!

How would you protect your newly installed parquet (in a new building) during the remaining construction period and the move?

Basically, I find this painter’s protective fleece (the "fabric scraps" with the foil underneath) actually quite practical this time. But it is precisely the foil that worries me a bit. Keywords: moisture, no diffusion possible, wooden floor

Am I right to be concerned, or are the worries rather theoretical in nature?

How did you solve this in your case?

Thanks for the ideas,

Regards

Steffen

Painter's fleece is the best, [sie folie] has only advantages. You are worrying unnecessarily.

If the parquet is damaged after just a few weeks of coverage, you have purchased a quality that is subject to complaints. Don't worry.

And if the floor were still damp, the parquet should not have been laid anyway.

Hmm, right. The CM measurement was fine, so it should be okay. Well, thanks for your feedback, then the painter's protective fleece will be used! Regards

I have just handled a parquet damage case in Munich. The parquet was protected with a foil (we are talking here about a vapor barrier), and CM residual moisture measurements were also carried out beforehand. This CAN work well. But if only one component in the overall system does not function, for example due to undetected residual moisture nests, damage can occur. The foil under the painter’s fleece is often the problem! The term "CAN" results in costs of 1.2 million EUR in Munich. I would use firmer packing paper and fix the sheet overlaps with strip-shaped dry adhesive. Especially since the areas probably won't be that large. Regards: KlaRa
