To be honest, I wouldn't stress about it at this point. First, wait to see if you get a plot of land and whether you actually want to build together. The thoughts you express here in the forum look to me as follows:

I absolutely want to build a house because I have always wanted to. Since I am afraid that my current relationship will last a long time, I want to minimize my financial risk and arrange everything with my girlfriend in writing beforehand.

You don't care that by doing this you are already implying intentions to separate today. First, get clear about what you want with whom and focus on your relationship and try to find out if she is the right one for you and if you are the right one for her before discussing eggs that have not yet been laid.

I do not find the wording appropriate. No one knows what will happen in x years. This topic simply has to be addressed factually and without romanticism.

Right. It has nothing to do with the intentions of one side, or with accusations. Rather, at the beginning of a close connection, it is recorded who had what and who contributes how much. As I heard, the divorce itself is not expensive, but the arguing and litigating over money and its settlement. Children add to that. The winners will probably be the lawyers.

I feel exactly the same.

Let’s be honest, the divorce rate hasn’t really gone down in recent years. I have seen with some acquaintances and friends of my parents what suddenly can happen. Someone here already gave a good example. That’s why I find it absolutely legitimate to consider how to protect oneself and one’s partner in case of a separation.

We also talk about it very openly and honestly. Someone always ends up bringing more into the relationship. So I’ll gladly keep reading here and get ideas. We are planning to build a house next year and we are still unmarried. How we will arrange everything is still up in the air.

What does the plot of land actually cost? How much is it worth?

Currently, I see two pragmatic options without complicated contracts:
A) You buy the plot of land alone and wait to see how the relationship develops until the start of construction.
B) You buy together now 50:50 with 0% equity in the financing. Also wait here until the start of construction, then a new loan.

If the plot of land is inexpensive, I would choose option A.

How does the girlfriend view different ownership structures?

If possible, I would like to handle the project completely on my own, the girlfriend can then move in for rent or participate in other ways.
