Hello,
we are currently building a small house/cabin for our business and have decided on a log cabin here ... Of course, we have calculated with this offer price. It is from May. Today we wanted to order, but there was a small change. The roof overhang on the gable end was shortened from 1.5m to one meter. We expected a very small reduction in the offer, since at the beginning of the negotiations we were told that the price would depend on the required cubic meters of wood.
Well, what can I say. The colleagues put an offer on the table which had increased by a whopping 50%. Without blushing. Reason: wood price and transport costs had increased.
We could have ordered earlier. Is it really that simple? For me, that is already far above the label "unprofessional," right?
Mhm - a solid log cabin costs a lot of money; years ago I had the production process of a CDN natural log house shown to me, and it quickly became clear why that has to be the case. However, it would be new to me that prices are now being rolled like dice there.
I don’t know which provider you picked, but with THE one described above I definitely would not order. Or was that such a thing from TEUR 74 ...?
I just wanted to know if I can do something about it.
What did you have in mind? We still have a free market economy in this, our country; therefore – and especially if the offer deadline has expired (it probably has, since May was a few days ago already) – you are the ultimate loser.
My problem is, I don’t have time. The loss of revenue due to late opening is presumably more painful than the price increase. So I will swallow the bitter pill and look very closely for defects during the final inspection. But thanks for the info and suggestions.
You should - in order to get reliable statements - explain what the house cost in May, so that we can better assign the 50%.
Rhenish greetings
