I recently asked myself the same question. Is it one hundred percent certain that the perlite filling or mineral wool filling will never shrink over the planned service life of a brick house (possibly 100 years or more) and that the insulation properties will never deteriorate? Does the same apply, for example, to lightweight expanded clay/concrete stones filled with polystyrene?

(I know, the thread is old, but my question fits here really well).

Perlite filling is volcanic rock - have you ever seen a stone shrink?

I think you can forget that just as much as the claim that the filling pours out when drilled.
Nothing pours out at all. I have also dealt with the issue for a long time now and have come to the conclusion that filled stones bring significantly more advantages due to their better properties (sound insulation, thicker webs, etc.) and also significantly reduce the risk of plaster cracks. We will now switch to T9 instead of U9. If it becomes Kfw55, then T8

Okay, I looked into it: Expanded perlite is heated to 1,000 degrees Celsius, causing the stored water to evaporate and the perlite rock to expand. Afterwards, it must be made hydrophobic, i.e. a coating that does not allow water to penetrate. If the properties of this water-repellent hydrophobic coating were to no longer be water-repellent at some point, moisture could penetrate, and the stone could shrink again (or not?), but at least lose some insulating ability. I am not clear to what extent these hydrophobic properties can be lost, but as is well known, there is no coating (bitumen / [Schwarze Wanne]) in basement construction that lasts forever. So, theoretically, there is a possibility that at least the insulating properties may deteriorate. How relevant this is in practice???

We are waiting for the development
The notary contract for the property was already last year, the development plan was recently finally adopted and meets our expectations. Because of the kitchen and what is available nowadays, we have informed ourselves recently, and we might also build a basement, since OKEGFF is about 1.5m above ground level on one side.

Then the ordeal was for nothing... Wasn't the slope obvious so that the basement could have been planned from the start? You’re getting your shisha room!
