The bike path is for residents and newly planned, I do not expect through traffic here.
Nevertheless, that was one reason why we planned the garden facing southeast.

The noise from neighbors would probably bother us less; we currently live in a rental apartment in the big city, and it doesn't bother us there either. Of course, you can always have bad luck.

So far, the entrance in the west has been the best compromise for us. The north side would be quite inconvenient (perhaps the "guest (foot) access" could be planned via the bike path, but that isn't nice either).

Here is another option we initially discarded again. Driveway to the north behind the "front garden area." We might also be allowed to pave up to 30% there (parking spaces would also be permitted).
Single carport directly on the north with a long driveway (here still with parking / maneuvering space in the south). We have only one car; the double carport was rather planned for bicycles, etc., but it is not a must. At least then we wouldn't have the carport as a "visual blocker."
The driveway would then be without a turning possibility at the top, and the "front garden" would also not be used very sensibly.

Otherwise, we might really have to consider whether the garden facing north/east is better. Similar to the drawing by ypg with a north terrace, it becomes more difficult to get light into the house and to arrange the rooms sensibly. In the example with two terraces and the house in the east, the garden would be too fragmented for us; we would prefer it to be contiguous, as it isn’t very large anyway.

I would orient the house in the way that fits best on the plot in terms of driveway, view, and tranquility, and not force it to face south.

We have a plot facing northwest, all living rooms face north because there is nature and an open view there, and to the south is the street. On the plan, some people shook their heads, wondering why there is no living space facing south, but as soon as they see the situation, they agree with us. We don’t have direct sunlight from the north in winter, but it’s not dark thanks to the huge window front. And in summer, despite facing north, we still need to shade the terrace.
To make a long story short: Take a look at the plot and consider where you want to look, in which direction you want to shield yourself, and how it is best to access it from the street.

You totally want to build against the property. Does it make you happy to forcefully achieve something that isn't there?
