Hello, thanks for your ideas. We have already swapped the utility room with the kitchen, however, there is then a long corridor next to the stairs leading to the kitchen, no access from the carport to the utility room, and the utility room becomes quite small. And the living room is then right next to the door and we would have to place the couch in the room because we lack a partition wall.
Well, you see that you don’t always get your desired plot. That’s why the planning of the house (preferably also as a sketch on graph paper with pencil) should only begin once you can briefly reserve one or two plots.
You have to try sketching yourself to see how and what works.
One thing is certain: you always have to make compromises. That’s why a priority list is good. You should also think about what you want to achieve with certain premises, whether something makes sense or whether you can achieve something with other premises as well. (Passage through the utility room, for example)
You should also take sun position paths into account. The sun will rarely shine through north-facing windows, but of course the sun will also shine in the north garden.
A terrace facing north gets sun from about 4 p.m. until evening in summer. A south-facing terrace is in the shade at 7 p.m. in the evening.
