Hello everyone,

we are currently looking for a plot of land and have one in mind. However, the location of the house on the plot would be about 1.5m below street level and would require the installation of a professional lifting system. At least on the ground floor, no basement is planned. On the ground floor, there will be a toilet, washing machine, and kitchen. The system would have to handle that. The bathroom with shower and bathtub would be on the first floor and thus more than one meter above street level. Question: Do these systems generally cause problems? What about blockages? Odor nuisance? Noise? Is a budget of 1500-2000€ sufficient for a good system? How demanding is the maintenance, etc.? Approximately how high are the electricity costs for a two-person household? Thanks in advance for your answers. Best regards, Erin

What about rainwater?

I unfortunately do not understand the question. Do you mean the runoff of rainwater on the property? Or using rainwater as [Brauchwasser]?

We built last year, with a lifting system for the entire house (bathroom, toilet, kitchen, washing machine) without stormwater, also about 1.5-2 m height and 30m distance to the sewer. The cost was almost €7,000. A Jung pump Multicut with a prefabricated shaft. In the shaft, the wastewater is collected up to a certain fill level x. Then the stuff is chopped up and pumped away. There are various things to consider. Not really rocket science, I think, but quite difficult for a layperson to get insight into.

With or without stormwater/rainwater is an important decision because it significantly affects the size of the pump. You also have to check whether you are even allowed to pump stormwater into the sewer.

Then you also need a power connection for the control of the lifting system. We buried the system under the driveway, so we placed the control in the garage.

And there is also a vent, which in our case is an aluminum pipe sticking out sideways from the system on the house.

So far, the system does what it is supposed to do, no problems. First maintenance is due next month. No odor at all. When it runs, i.e. chops and pumps away, you can hear it if you stand on the driveway and also if you are in the adjacent room with the window tilted open (in our case, the bathroom). So I would place it in such a way that it does not disturb.

Otherwise, I think there are also systems with a double pump in case one fails. But those are probably even more expensive and you would still have the bathroom upstairs as a backup.

Hi,
are you sure that you actually need one?
Depending on the situation, the channel may be so deep that you can drain directly.
