I would also say that it is a matter of taste. Besides, it also seems to be a trend. Currently, gray/anthracite is very fashionable. And it certainly also depends on the type of house and the color of the house in general.

Personally, I prefer white; it is more timeless and doesn’t feel as oppressive (especially inside). It is more neutral and easier to combine.

Everything or much has its time taste.
Nevertheless, there are timeless elements like black window frames. I must admit, however, that the generation after me (roughly from the 80s) can't relate to it, maybe because the 90s were characterized by cheap white plastic stuff?

But it's coming back, you can see it with anthracite after all.

Many people really like what you call "billig weisse Plaste-Gedöns".

The broad masses like what is seen most often, because the eye and brain get used to something and it doesn't seem strange. It's like an ugly piece of furniture: if you grew up with it, you don't perceive the ugliness (this also falls under the term operational blindness); if you see something like that for the first time, it seems strange to you -> wrong -> not nice. Simple psychology

Regarding taste: I also don't like certain antiques, yet they are exclusive, noble, and valuable, even if I wouldn't want to receive them as a gift

The other way around works too. What the majority likes is often bought and therefore also often seen...

But it's good that there are still style icons who stand out from the crowd...

That's exactly what sometimes makes the appeal of something "unusual" and makes it special.
