With all due respect, if a craftsman already makes me "irritated" before starting the job, I look for another craftsman who can do it. I’m not going to give up my beautiful roof shape because of a craftsman's exaggerated fears! As you already wrote, with proper sealing no problems are to be expected. If a craftsman can’t seal such a gutter, I don’t want him to seal anything else on my house either.

Hello,

Ack.

You write that so nicely fluffy + casually and you are basically right. However - you wouldn't believe how many builders - especially with roofing companies - have later closed off an interior roof.

I generally agree with you. The roofer, a family friend, is capable of constructing such a roof according to DIN standards, but he simply advises against it. Just good advice, since such drainage apparently has caused problems several times after a while. Whether that is actually the case I cannot judge, but it doesn’t sound completely illogical.

Good evening,

And why does it not sound "completely illogical" when you generally agree with "us"?

Hello construction expert, I agree with you that many builders are probably unsettled by craftsmen and thus may deviate from the original concept. The roofer's remark that such drainage could cause problems in the future does make sense to me because of his technical reasoning. The topic was posted here in the forum to find out if someone else faced the same decision and maybe found a technical alternative solution that we have not thought of yet. But so far, that does not seem to be the case. Regards

Straight away: I have no experience regarding the shown roof drainage.

I don’t think the roofer’s advice is wrong at first, even if it’s not clear what concern is behind it (liability for faulty execution?).
But what happens with this system if, for example, leaves block the downpipe opening? With an external gutter, the water then just splashes from it onto the ground. With an internal gutter: does the rotten brown Lorche (let’s just assume the worst now) run down the until then brilliantly white facade?
